There are three types of content you can create in the OMP Dashboard that will then appear in the App: Shorts, Courses and Exercises.
Shorts
Tips for creating your own Short
- It’s in the name, keep it short! Try to keep your short to six minutes or less.
- Have one simple topic or theme. Don’t introduce three or four different topics.
- Include real-world examples. For example, if you’re introducing athletes to self-talk statements, perhaps you can include well know athletes who have spoken about practicing the skill you’re introducing.
- Leave your athletes with a way to action what you’ve just told them. Direct them to use an exercise that is within the app or give athletes a way to implement what they have learned it into their next performance.
Course
Think of courses as like a book with each session being a chapter.
A course can have up to 50 sessions.
Tips for creating your own Course
- Structure your courses like a book or essay – use the first session to introduce what you’re talking about across the course and use the last session to recap what has been discussed and any skills or learnings that athletes can immediately implement.
- Keep your sessions brief and treat them almost like shorts. Six minutes is ideal, but no longer than 10 minutes.
- Introduce new mental skills to your athletes in each session and then encourage them to practice them on their own.
Exercises
An exercise is a content item that allows athletes to complete worksheet style exercise and join mental skills coaches on guided breathing and visualization exercises, and more.
Exercises can comprise of any of the following eight elements:
- Audio snippet: A piece of audio that discusses a certain topic or introduces the activity you want the user to complete.
- Video: A piece of video that discusses a certain topic or introduces the activity that you want a user to complete.
- Image: Single or multiple images for the user to view relating to the exercise or a certain topic.
- Text Field: A simple text field a user can write into. You can restrict it to a set number of characters, words or sentences.
- Multiple Choice: A selection of answers a user can choose from. You can make this limited or unlimited.
- Numbered List: Allow your user to create a list based on your questions.
- Likert Scale: Allow your user to rank themselves on a scale related to your question.
- Sliding Scale: Single or multiple sliders for the user to score on scales related to your question.
All elements are created and uploaded by coaches, with athletes being able to directly interact with Text Fields, Likert Scales, Multiple Choices and Numbered Lists once the exercise has been published to the app.
All completed sessions can be viewed by coaches within the Online Dashboard on the exercise’s ‘Completed Sessions’ tab.
Tips for creating your own Exercises
- Make sure any questions or interactions are concise.
- Don’t feel you need to add Likert Scales, Text Fields etc. when uploading guided visualization or breathing exercises. These can remain as just audio or video.
- Add relaxation music behind any guided breathing, meditation or visualization scripts to enhance the athlete’s experience.
